The concept of letting go is a daily practice of being aware of feelings as they arise, allowing them to surface, sitting with them & allowing them to exist. To let go, one must simply allow feelings to be as they are. Allow the feeling to exist with NO resistance. No condemning them, no complaining about them, & no fearing them. To resist continues providing energy to those unwanted feelings, feeding them, growing them, giving them life. Whatever you offer consistent focus to grows. By letting go of what affects you in negative ways, you improve your life.
Letting go can be an extremely difficult thing to do, especially when dealing with feelings that cause suffering. Recognizing & accepting your feelings opens the door for these feelings to be released.
Sit it down
Take a few minutes, several times a day to check in with yourself. I do this immediately upon waking in the morning. Ask yourself how you are feeling. Listen & honor whatever answer your inner voice tells you. Honor that inner voice, always. That is the part of you that does not lie to you. Breathe & allow your thoughts to dance with your feelings, no matter how uncomfortable it may seem. Allowing this will open the flood gates energetically. Sometimes bringing a flow of tears with it. Tears are you letting go, physically manifested in the purge that is taking place within. Check in with yourself numerous times a day. It will change your life. You will begin to know & understand yourself on new levels.
“People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar.” Thich Nhat Hanh
