NOTES FROM THE DOLLHOUSE - FILL YOUR CUP

"Fill your cup.

You look thirsty.

Your cup sits before you, child".

Lady Cannon holds Emily's hand, as she sobs quietly.

The aroma of vanilla and rose, hug her tightly.

"In order to care for others, we must first care for ourselves. Lift your head and look into my eyes.

Fill your cup".

The copper vessel sat in front of Emily.

She understood what was being said.

The task seemed easy.

All Emily had to do was fill her cup,

As full as she wished.

It could overflow, if she wanted.

Emily remembered her teachings with Laveau.

"Do not drink from every cup presented to you. For that, is how we are poisoned". Laveau's stark words replayed in her memory.

Laveau was very serious when she spoke of filling cups.

The idea of doing so made Emily nauseous.

She felt surrounded by many nice people but she had also seen a lot of human monsters.

The empty copper cup sat in front of her.

Its precious metal gleamed and sparkled in the candlelight.

Emily had not realized her cup was empty.

She had not given it one thought.

She never noticed.

Each day she practiced and trained, believing this was the way to finally fill her cup, until it overflowed.

All the while, her cup sat empty.

Emily longed to help others, to fill the void of nothingness, as Laveau called it.

Her blessings to help others sometimes created self sabotage as she struggled to find herself in her new world.

"Blessings will fill your cup child.

But only if you have faith and believe.

Be sure to fill it with your hopes, wishes and dreams" Lady Cannon said, as she handed the cup to Emily.

Emily took her copper cup.

It was cold to touch.

She froze for a moment, smiled at Lady Cannon,

closed her eyes, and wept into her cup.

As the tears flowed from her emerald green eyes, they began to drip down her beautiful brown skin into her copper cup.

Lady Cannon hugged her tightly as Emily filled her cup.

Her tears overflowed her copper cup with prosperity.

From that day on, every single dream of Emily's came true! From rags to riches, orphan transformed into a queen, she began to live her best life here, overflowing with love, joy and happiness.
